Merete Barker was born on 17 August 1944 in Birkerød, Denmark. In the years 1966-1973 she studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under the supervision of professors Egill Jacobsen and Richard Mortensen. From 1976-1981 she was affiliated with the Datalogical Laboratory at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture. From 1977-1989 she was a member of the group Ny Abstraktion [New Abstraction], and since 1989 she has been a member of the Danish artists’ co-operative Grønningen.

THE LANDSCAPE UNDERGROUND, area: 9x3x0,9meter, is an installation, subsidized by The Danish Arts Council. The installation is part of the exhibition: JUST BEFORE DAWN together with Viera Collaro and Margrete Sørensen. The exhibition will take place at Cisternerne – The Museum for Glass Art, Søndermarken, Frederiksberg, Denmark, February 2nd – November 25th 2012. THE FORGOTTEN CITY, a large scale painting, will be shown at the GRØNNINGEN exhibition, at Kulturkajen Docken in Nordhavn, Copenhagen Ø, April 14th – May 6th 2012. |
